A bit more rubbing down done today and a hatch lid made.

 

Starting to strip

The first thing to do was to strip off the canvas skin on the hull which was coming away and very uneven.The canvas came off quite easy to reveal a planked hull, with lots of nails and gaps.

I was given the pond yacht over 30 years ago from My uncle, My brother in law had it for over 25 years where is sat in storage. I had forgotten it existed until he offered it back to Me and so the journey to restoration begins.

Canon 40D

I have decided to take the plunge and sell off my Nikon D70 in favour of the Canon 40D for the live preview it provides. I can stop using a second camera attached to the viewfinder for a video feed and get a better quality image for an assist, others at StopMotionAnimation.com ( link to thread) are changing to Canon. I will keep the Nikkor lenses I'm using and buy an adaptor ring.

I have been working on My own technique of adding real eyes to some close up shots ,here is an early test with other added facial movements such as blinking and the start of a smile.
